The residence is situated on a quiet hillside in Mount Parnassus, facing Arachova village and the magnificent Delphi valley. The natural habitat and its materials inspired the renovation design.
The natural hues and textures of the source materials used like timber and stone are kept intact. This design principle was followed in order to extend and reinforce the typical architectural approach to integrating a building into a mountainous landscape.
The design aims to create spaces with a sense of warmth, privacy, and security. The residence comprises three levels.
The ground floor level houses the dining area, the kitchen and a sitting area with a fireplace, in an extroverted manner. Large openings in the kitchen and sitting allow natural light to permeate the interior with direct views to the surrounding area. The minimal but functional kitchen enjoys great views. To maximize space throughout the sitting, the fireplace and firewood storage are integrated into a unified construction clad in the same timber used on the floor and ceiling; The user realizes the location of the fireplace solely by the fire. At the rear side of the pit, placed LED stripes highlight the stone cladding.
A metal staircase in black iron with wooden treads leads to the upper level containing the master bedroom and the children's bedrooms, all with timber as the main material, in simple design lines.
The lower level contains the guest rooms, a sauna, and a Turkish bath.
