The apartment comprises the first floor of a building with a courtyard in the Alepochori area, Megara. Approximately 150m away from the Corinthian Gulf, the building’s position allows views to the sea and Gerania mountain range from the first floor. The designers extended and renovated the existing 45m2 creating an autonomous 90m2 country retreat to be used by a family, mainly during the summer period.
The extension occupies part of the existing balconies and is focused on the views to the mountains and the sea respectively, with natural wood furniture matching the different sceneries. Large openings and the use of natural materials blur the borders between indoors and outdoors, rendering the apartment flexible to seasonal alternations. In the summer months the sitting and dining area is used as an extension of the terrace, while in the winter it transforms into a cosy focal point, with fireplace and stone wall claddings adding to the atmosphere.
