Materials and their Application, the Material and Architecture conversation, will be at the forefront during “The Material Lab 2020”, an original and absolutely conceptual Event / Materials Presentation and Application Workshop for Architects, Engineers, Builders and Designers

THE NEED AIMED TO BE COVERED BY “THE MATERIAL LAB”

The idea for the creation of The Material Lab is based on the following assumptions:

• The role of materials is undoubtedly crucial for the successful implementation of the architectural design, as they can be a source of inspiration for the designer and can characterize to a certain extent the (constructive) outcome of the study.
• Proper use of materials requires good knowledge of their technical characteristics, and how they are applied.
• The significant shortfall in the number of new constructions in the last decade, as a result of the financial crisis, deprived many (mainly younger) scholars the possibility of regular friction with construction and construction materials, resulting in a regression in “good technical knowledge”. of their characteristics, and how they are implemented».
• As materials technology has grown rapidly in recent years and the market is constantly enriched with new materials, scholars are urged to keep up-to-date on their features, staying in touch with a key piece of their work.

Believing that researchers are kept up-to-date on new materials that they are required to use and specify, Archetype.gr and Demand Fairs & Media are organizing a Material Applications Lab called “The Material Lab. Matter and architecture ”.

During the workshop, renowned companies in the field will present old and new cutting-edge materials. In an original way, the technical characteristics of the materials as well as the general specifications will be known, but most importantly how they will be implemented in real time.

The workshop will take place at MEC Paiania on 28-29 March 2020.
