With this anniversary issue we celebrate 30 years of ek publications. Just as turning thirty marks a shift in an architect’s career towards mature creativity, so too does three decades of uninterrupted publishing affirm the consistency, dedication, and discourse that ek has sustained with both the Greek and international architectural scene. Its pages record and highlight thirty years of work -projects and creators who defined an era, alongside new voices that found a platform for expression.
Beyond being an architectural archive, ek has consistently acted as a stage for emerging talent and new directions in design and construction. Like a manuscript that continues to be written, it presents now the generation taking up the mantle of creation, shaping, to a significant degree, the architectural thinking of the years ahead. The dedication of this 300th issue to young Greek architects is both symbolic and substantive: it features selected practices led by architects under the age of 40, already with a noteworthy body of built work and projects, strong participation in competitions, and international recognition.
This is a generation that began its professional journey during Greece’s economic crisis, facing unprecedented difficulties, yet through perseverance has succeeded in forging its own path. Short interviews highlight their positions, approaches, and challenges.
By celebrating this thirtieth anniversary, we do not only honor the history of ek publications, but also the vitality of Greek architecture itself, expressing our full confidence in its future.
