A pharmacy space with an industrial identity, in Athens.

The space is bathed in light, and the drawers and furniture are of moderate height, allowing every sunbeam to shine brightly in.

The aim was to emphasise the spatial qualities: the airiness, the light, the height, the impact and the accessibility of the space. Therefore, the utilisation of every metre of the walls was a challenge achieved through the installation of the rods on which the shelves are installed, which present a clear aesthetic identity while displaying brands. Moreover, the drawers on either end complement the shelves and offer a large storage space.
In this sense, the aesthetic integrity and the lights are consistent with an industrial aspect that proves very easy on the eyes: the wall washers produce a distinctly benevolent optic.

Furniture may be low, but it is nonetheless triply clever: visitors can choose one of three places to stand, each of which affords the desired privacy. Not a single detail is left to chance, and even the indoor plants are carefully placed so as to diminish outdoor distractions.

The mezzanine is lined with sheet metal that takes on a dual role facilitating the air-conditioning through the use of water jets. Thus, the DR. PHARMACY neon sign doubles as an air vent.
The two materials used for the floor also play a dual role: the warm oak wood, echoed in the drawers, delineates the purposes of the space and concurrently softens the cement screed, minimising the sense of vastness.

The name H_Orizon derives from the two main elements that comprised the initial design concept. “H” stands for the H shaped building plan, with the two main building volumes extending symmetrically along the Southwest-Southeast axis; “Horizon” being a play of words in regards to the continuous connection of the residence with the open horizon. The void created by the two main volumes forms a frame, which captures the perpetual energy and alternating images of the sea horizon.
This point becomes a focal element of the house that is arranged according to daily family activities and the alternating natural landscape, allowing viewpoints to the island scape. The house appears to emerge from the landscape and the landscape unfolds linearly, as an extension of the house.

The Marangopoulos heritage building in downtown Patras is modernised in order to accommodate a new Icon Fitness gym by international company Holmes Place. The building is a significant specimen of early 20th century eclectic architecture, with a plethora of Art Nouveau morphological elements. Initially it operated as a textile industry, while much later it housed the legendary “Arena”, an entertainment area that marked the nightlife of Patras and in the process became a later point of reference for the region.
The building is a double-storey stone masonry construction with large arched openings and intricate wooden casings, which were restored to their former glory along with the façade.
The metal load bearing structure of the building’ second storey was accurately redesigned, in accordance to the old façade, determining the main axes of the new spatial configuration.

Design of open plan, multifunctional office space in Marousi.

The design of a pharmaceutical company’s office premises focused on freedom of movement, flow and communication between the open and closed spaces, organized into distinct areas, with a gradation of transparency and privacy. Functionality and versatility, structural and aesthetic continuity contribute to an environment of collaboration and extroversion. The aim is to create open and multifunctional workspaces.
The central core of the premises has multifunctional characteristics and open connections with all neighboring areas.
The entire core, with its curved geometry and central location, functions as an islet cluster, not impervious but traversed by transverse passages, which are marked by ceiling-recessed, strip lights. Groups of workspaces are arranged around this central core, as distinct areas delimited by closed spaces with semi transparent dividers.
