Metal skin

Located in the picturesque setting of Aymavilles, the project is an elegant house inspired by alpine shelters and Nordic aesthetics, blending harmoniously with its surroundings.

 

Exterior Skin

The building’s most striking morphological characteristic is the absence of a roof overhang as well as a distinct exterior cladding, made of black metal panels, resulting in a visually cohesive aesthetic. This exterior skin is weather resistant -an essential feature for the specific area- and can be easily installed in both a vertical and horizontal direction. The material is also seamlessly integrated with wood and plaster for greater exterior insulation.

 

Spatial Organization

The whole structure follows the construction logic of the traditional aluminium bivouacs, a solution that ensures that the necessary load distribution is properly established, which is a key requirement for building on such a particular terrain. The residence is designed to maximize the space’s functionality, organized in an open-plan layout and carefully considering the placement of the kitchen, bedroom, balconies as well as an outdoor living area, while maintaining a minimal aesthetic.

 

Sustainability Approach

One key element of the project is its consideration to environmental sustainability during its implementation. More specifically, the panels are made of recyclable aluminium, minimizing production costs and material waste. Additionally, the installation of 18 photovoltaic panels on the roof and a heat pump renders the residence almost completely self-sufficient. Finally, a wood-burning stove in its interior becomes a traditional accent feature within the modernist villa.
