Tehran’s building and construction landscape is purely economically driven, due to revised construction laws and consciences of a fast-growing metropolis. This has led to the creation of an architecture that is mostly based on necessities rather than a complex interplay of form, material, and texture. As a result of an expanding metropolis, the notion of boundary and territory is challenged. In Tehran, these notions have shaped rigid and nonporous thresholds between the developments and their surroundings. Cutting off and isolating the lifestyles they contain; therefore, a major touchstone of VOID+ is defining its fee, focusing on the relationship it establishes with the ground and its periphery. The project tries to set an example or a prototype for dealing with notions of shared ownership, privacy, safety, territory, collective memory and most importantly improving the quality of the domestic space in Tehran.
