Against the backdrop of global environmental challenges, the worlds of business, creativity, technology and politics are increasingly converging. Design has a mediating role to play in shaping a more liveable future for all.

For the fourth year in a row, iF Design is the publisher of the iF Design Trend Report, an internationally oriented analysis of global design trends. In collaboration with researchers from “The Future:Project”, Frankfurt/M., the new Trend Report looks at the most important facts and trends that are shaping the present of design and makes them comprehensible using current best practice examples from the iF DESIGN AWARD 2025.

The iF Design Trend Report 2025 is a valuable resource for anyone working in the fields of product, innovation or strategy – a cornucopia of trends, case studies and food for thought that will influence the way we design in the coming years. Interviews with designers from ten countries provide valuable insights and perspectives on the topics. The most important key learnings are concisely summarized at the end of each chapter. The report can be explored interactively and supports flexible reading behavior.

The Trend Report 2025 focuses on six major transformations in our society:

Human Digitality

Design promotes the interaction between people and technology in a more networked society. The more complex the technologies, the greater the demands on the interfaces between products and services, as demonstrated by the use of generative AI and robotics.

Conscious Economy

Design helps to create more empathetic interaction in companies. Values and social developments are increasingly shaping strategies in companies, which are also inspired by design methods. Soft skill sets are becoming a decisive factor within HR and recruiting, and job crafting should free employees from passivity.

Co-Society

Design to promote togetherness in an increasingly fragmented and polarized society. Wealth is reinterpreted in the Quiet Luxury trend and used for more economic and social justice. Sustainable products impress with carefully selected materials. Two opposing trends can be identified: Individualization versus a culture of “we”.

Eco Transition

Design accelerates transformations towards a circular society. Companies benefit from shared resources, reduce costs and increase flexibility. Open innovation platforms and sharing knowledge about circular design will play a central role in design.

Mindshift Revolution

Design breaks with stereotypes. Values and norms, worldviews and gender-specific imprints are reshaped and leave more room for personal development. Mental health is gaining in importance. The mental health shift is supported by universal design and contributes to more mindful interpersonal relationships.

Globalization

Design supports global resilience. Globalization describes the search for a new connection between local actions within the global network. Design strategies address this and strengthen local locations through regionalized production processes and intercultural learning and make them less dependent on international interdependencies.

An architectural firm in Kypseli embraces the idea that authenticity and imperfections are what make a place truly unique.

“Stay Perfectly Imperfect”: A&M Architects invites us to the heart of Kypseli, the neighborhood where the firm was founded, to remind us that it’s the imperfections, not perfection, that make a place truly unique.

Set against the backdrop of Kypseli’s most iconic spots, the film captures the vibrant contrasts of Athens. From the bustling apartment buildings and lively square to the vibrant market and historic municipal market, Kypseli is depicted as it is: a neighborhood teeming with life, defined by its flaws and distinctive character.

A visitor’s first impression of Athens might be that of a gray, untidy, and perhaps neglected city. Yet, it is the spirit of its people that brings color, warmth, and hope to its streets. This is not an Athens striving for perfection but a city in constant evolution, shaped by its imperfections. These flaws give it character, authenticity, and a vibrancy born from the lives of its residents. A&M’s video celebrates the genuine energy and humanity that define our spaces and communities, encouraging us to find beauty in the unexpected. Perfection isn’t what we need—it’s the imperfections that make us truly unique.

A&M Architects, one of the largest architectural firms in Greece, is renowned for its collaborations with major clients, including Microsoft, Google, Pfizer, and Nestlé. The firm also plays an active role in the transformative developments in the Elliniko area. With a team of 70 professionals and six specialized services under one roof, A&M brings 41 years of expertise to the design of residential, hospitality, office, and mixed-use buildings, as well as airport food and beverage outlets.

Never again has a television been able to define the looks of our space in such a singular way, adding perfection to any environment, with refined aesthetics.

LG is first to succeed in this direction, with the brand-new LG Gallery OLED TV, which binds together contemporary design, cutting-edge technology, and art, in a product that changes the way we had watched television up to this day.

Inspired by fine art, benefitting from LG OLED technology which is self-illuminating and does not require any back lighting, the Gallery TV unlocks a new world of television design: extremely slim profile and extremely thin frames result in an elegant item that will seamlessly blend into your wall, as an artwork.

Unique screensavers illustrating famous art pieces, highlight innovation and inspiration in the television design, making it part of any art lover’s collection.

Absolute trust in the credentials of the new LG Gallery OLED TV is confirmed from the point of view of the successful architect and interior designer, Kostas Gagos of Gagos Architecture and Design, who is eager to agree this is a work of art. “The incredibly slim design of the OLED panel is so beautiful and discreet that it gives the impression of a true work of art, transforming your living room into a modern art museum.”

Awarded as Architect/Designer of the Year in the Retail Interiors Awards 2020, the architect, standing out in the fields of renovation, decoration and construction of small to large-scale projects, in Greece and abroad, appreciates the unique viewing experience as much as the aesthetic luxury: “LG OLED Gallery TV is equipped with self-illuminating pixels that can produce perfect black, exceptional realism and unique designs. The OLED screen has 100% color calibration, accurately depicting the colors of the original image in digital form. The result is an unparalleled viewing experience!”

Samsung revolutionizes refrigerator design, by creating the first modular refrigerators for household use that can grow or reduce their size, or change their color, providing infinite design versatility.

The new Samsung Bespoke refrigerator series was designed to suit any style of kitchen and any consumer need, by being customizable in the course of time: They comprise independent units that can be added to each other, and the panels are sold separately from the refrigerators to be able to suit space, for any mood.

Samsung Bespoke refrigerators change, as life needs change. A single dweller can buy a refrigerator/freezer with any color of panels they; if, in the course of time, a flatmate is added, they will not need to change the refrigerator but simply to add one more unit -for instance, a refrigerator/freezer that can be either one or the other. If, in the meantime, children appear and more storage space is needed, one more unit can be added, in the desired color and texture.

Samsung Bespoke system units have a standard length of 59,5cm and depth of 65,8cm, and they are available in two heights, either 185,3cm or 203cm. The outer panels material is either glass or metal, in many different colors and finishes to suit any taste and any ambience: glass panels can have a glossy glam or soft satin finish, and the metal panels are matt, with ceramic texture; they are available in black, lilac, beige, and white, and the coming months will see even more shades, including peach and navy blue.

The Samsung Bespoke series refrigerators are easy to find at electrical appliances retail stores, with a guaranteed Samsung quality and easy use. The only thing necessary is creativity, to build a customized refrigerator, each time one decides to do so.

LG OLED Gallery TV, with a minimalist look, is a new technology screen for domestic use, appearing like an artwork. With its Gallery design, 20mm slender frame and exclusively developed LG OLED Gallery Stand for placement on the floor, the LG television becomes a singular ornamental piece.

Appearing like a tripod, the accompanying stand and accessory LG OLED Gallery Stand, allows the television to be placed freely in space, like an artist’s easel, endowing the screen with a floating impression. The cable management system was designed with a premium appearance, and it is made to look like a stand in an art gallery: the power cord is held inside a special channel on the back leg of the base, and the height of the television is adjustable. On the back side, LG OLED Gallery Stand may further accommodate cables, power sockets and appliances.

The Gallery series design would not have been possible without the OLED technology, an unmatched LG field of expertise. The exceptionally slender OLED frame allowed designers to pursue the uniquely thin and elegant screen they had visualized, and to see it become real.

The LG OLED technology operates without back lighting; self-illuminating pixels provide a new experience of vision: Perfect lines, incredibly slim margin, and exceptionally elegant design. The only thing visible is the screen and nothing else.

At the core of its design, OLED Gallery is a comprehensive screen that can blend in harmoniously into any given space – a notion that LG designers refer to as “added spatial value”.

LG

LG OLED Gallery TV, with a minimalist look, is a new technology screen for domestic use, appearing like an artwork. With its Gallery design, slender frame and exclusively developed mechanism for perfect integration with the wall surface, the LG television becomes a singular ornamental piece. With the Gallery Mode feature, spectators can enjoy world-class landscapes and artworks, in the privacy of their home.

The team behind the Gallery remained faithful to its original vision through the entire development process, closely collaborating with LG engineers to deliver a new class of television. The results speak for themselves: an advanced OLED screen with less than 20mm thickness and an integrated, exceptionally slender arm that embraces the wall, remaining completely hidden.

The success of LG in creating such a product is already acknowledged by the most esteemed design prizes, including the Red Dot Design Awards and iF Design Awards 2020.

Hager offers a complete range of charging stations for fast, safe and smart charging of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles for both residential and commercial buildings thanks to its robust and ergonomic design, easy installation, build quality and functionality.

Witty charging stations are equipped with a Type 2 socket enhanced with safety shutters for charging in Mode 3, which is the safest and fastest method of charging electric vehicles in AC. Optionally they also support Mode 2 method, when charging through a schuko socket, which offers the possibility of charging the vehicle even if there is no Mode 3 cable available, simply by using the Mode 2 cable offered by the car vendor. Depending on the version, user access can be either free or controlled via RFID cards, installation can be either wall-mounted or floor-standing and because of the IP54 protection, the robust build material (anti-UV polyester/inox) and the IK10 durability it can be safely installed either indoors or outdoors.

witty.home: the residential solution

Single-phase (7kW) or three-phase (22kW) version, UV-resistant housing material, free user access, suitable for private parking lots in homes and small businesses.

witty.premium: The solution for controlled user access

Single-phase (7kW) or three-phase (22kW) version, UV-resistant housing material, controlled user access via RFID cards, suitable for private parking spaces in residential complexes, hotels, shops, companies, etc.

witty.park: The solution for public access parking spaces – compatibility with OCPP

Dual fast charging station (parallel charging of 2 vehicles), three-phase version(2x22kW), stainless steel housing, controlled user access via RFID cards, possibility of remote connection with service providers through OCPP (protocol that allows remote access and the charging of users in € per kWh through application etc.)

Versions witty.home and witty.premium have been awarded the internationally renowned Red Dot Design Award for both their ergonomic design (plug storage basket at the top of the station, available cable winding space at the back of the station, etc.) and for its minimal and clear aesthetics that enhances its functionality. Through a single integrated LED bar on the front of the station the user is informed with clear visual indications of its operating status. Version witty.park has a public-use design due to its simultaneous dual charging possibility, its robust inox housing, its user-friendly characteristics (how-to-use printed symbols, space for ads and explanatory stickers, the double LED bar, etc.) and the OCPP connectivity.
