The 18th edition of Maison de Campagne presents 14 selected, recently built country houses in Greece.
Vacation homes translate the needs of their inhabitants, often based upon an idealistic idea of the Greek countryside, to the realities of their new living environment. It is always an interesting challenge for architects to introduce local qualities into the design, such as building scale, connection with the landscape, and consideration for the characteristics of a site: the contours, the sunlight, the wind, and the existence or lack of natural features.
In this publication, the selected projects are developed in Aegean and Ionian Greek islands, in the Peloponnese, and in Crete. Vacation homes establish an open conversation between history and the landscape, materials and time, contemporary and preexisting elements.

They bring together tradition, a place, climate, experiences, and memories, in a narrative which unfolds as a storytelling in the landscape. The 16th edition of Maison de Campagne presents 16 selected, recently built country houses.

Vacation homes feature ever more emphatically a “new vernacular architecture”. There is no doubt, however, that the architecture produced today is quite different from the local vernacular. It may be daring, eloquent, enthralling, revealing the architects’ intention to integrate the new building into its immediate natural surroundings and into the traditional morphology at large, using different materials and different detailing.

In this publication, the selected projects are developed in different Greek islands, in the Peloponnese and in Halkidiki. Some are new buildings while others are renovations of existing structures; some embrace modernity and some emulate traditional forms. In all cases, the common denominator is the relationship they develop with the Mediterranean landscape and the blue of the sky and the sea.

Vacation homes are the most intimate expression of architecture because their design is all about the creation of lasting memories. From the viewpoint of an architect, the transformation of a space into a “place” is a two-way process; the design of a building allows space to store memories and, next, the imprint of those memories transforms the building into a place.

In this publication, the selected projects are developed in different Greek islands, in the Peloponnese and in Cyprus. The 13^th edition of Maison de Campagne presents 15 selected, recently completed, country houses.

This typology, the relationship between the built environment and nature, as well as its earthy materiality, completely interwoven with the surrounding landscape, make the summer residence a protagonist in the contemporary architectural production. In this publication, the selected projects are developed on different seaside locations.  

These residences have as common denominator the relationship they develop with the Mediterranean landscape and the blue of the sky and the sea. The architects create using light and shadows, combining traditional techniques with modern materials, in order to create spaces for the ultimate summer vacation experience.

Τhe 12th edition of Maison de Campagne comprises the presentation of 14 selected country houses that have been recently completed.
The country house, as a project category, witnesses a rise in development these last years, highlighting among other things the particular relationship undertaken by architectural design in reference to the respective landscape.  In the current edition the materialized residences develop in different island environments mainly of the Cyclades, but also in Kos, Alonissos and Lefkas.

These are residences that attempt to organize the modern summer lifestyle, placing emphasis on the dialogue between the interior and the surrounding area, the views of the wider landscape and in most cases, the absolute protagonist: the Greek sea.
