Maison de Campagne 2023

The 18th edition of Maison de Campagne presents 14 selected, recently built country houses in Greece.
Vacation homes translate the needs of their inhabitants, often based upon an idealistic idea of the Greek countryside, to the realities of their new living environment. It is always an interesting challenge for architects to introduce local qualities into the design, such as building scale, connection with the landscape, and consideration for the characteristics of a site: the contours, the sunlight, the wind, and the existence or lack of natural features.
In this publication, the selected projects are developed in Aegean and Ionian Greek islands, in the Peloponnese, and in Crete. Vacation homes establish an open conversation between history and the landscape, materials and time, contemporary and preexisting elements.
