Light rays vividly stream through the wooden membrane slits of this beautiful house project by Gianni Botsford Architects.
As a future gallery, studio, house and apartment for graphic and theatre designer clients, the proposal is a study in the flexibility of space and the intelligent use of natural light at play in this finely designed airy home.
The boundary between the outside urban context, and the inside private habitat is considered as a filtering agent.
In the architect’s words: “The proposal acts as a filter of its context, but also its varying programme. The layers of programme overlap and contract as required to provide public, semi public and private spaces. The louvers function not only to provide privacy and security, but also as a filter to mitigate the hard urban environment and create a comfortable condition inside, like having a forest around the building.”
