Karman introduces new lighting fixtures, designed by a group of innovative Italian designers and fabricated in Fossombrone, Italy. Seven new lights reveal a combination of materials and shapes designed by Matteo Ugolini, Karman’s art director. Ugolini’s lights are a reflection of his love of experimentation to produce designs that are rooted in functionality, craftsmanship, and atmosphere. Working in materials as diverse as fiberglass, lycra, rebar, glass, and ceramic, Ugolini manipulates light to create ethereal stories of lost words, forest creatures and subtle ironies. Luca De Bona and Dario De Meo have created two lights, the Domenica and Nando. The Domenica is inspired by bucolic Sunday afternoons and its bell-shaped body comes in white plaster with either golden brown or white wire netting in an ethereal profile. The Nando designs were inspired by icons of Italian culture and the Lambretta motor scooter; the lights come in white, black or gold metal. Edmondo Testaguzza who helms an award winning studio, relived childhood memories to reimagine crystalline candy jars in the form of textured Ginger lights. The trio of Ginger fixtures comes in translucent pale yellow or smoky triple-layered glass that emits an ethereal glow. Bizzarri Design Associates, a collaboration between Stefano Bizzarri and Claudio Cinti looked to the automobile engine as inspiration for their Mek collection of lights, bringing a touch of Steampunk to the illuminated space. Each design is available in black, white and bronze, or white ceramic. In conjunction with the Accademia di Belle Arti Cignaroli di Verona, Karman has included the Mono pendant whose white fiberglass shade floats above a rust-colored iron wire frame by Giovanna Colapristi, a student in the industrial design workshop led by Sotirios Papadopoulos. The lamps are distributed by the Global Lighting company.
