The hotel-Restaurant Mourέlo faces the Heraklion coast and brings forth a familiar sense of luxury, with a welcome minimalist sensibility as a twist. The outer shell is a strong homage to Modernism accentuated by strong clean lines, as it exudes an old-school feeling to an undeniably contemporary architecture.
The transition to the pool upgrades the patio to one of the most interesting spaces of the hotel-restaurant. Wood partitions are used as sculptural elements, while the pool becomes the undisputed main feature. All these gestures refer to a different type of minimalism, not about absence, but about visual lightness. Finally, the water garden is filled with dense plants, for more privacy.
