The building lies close to the eastern perimeter of the land to liberate as much space as possible for the garden and pool with a view towards the west. The L-shaped plan embraces the resulting unenclosed area. The building as such spans four floors. The ground floor is higher than the street level and comprises of the open plan living and dining area as well as a kitchen. A 16m glass extension towards the garden and pool enlarges the living area. Outside the kitchen the superimposed structural extension creates a shaded area that almost reaches the water, from it; there is a view towards the rest of the home and a park. On the first floor are the two children’s bedrooms, a guestroom and main bedroom with a walk-in wardrobe and private bathroom. The owner’s office and a small gym are located at the basement. Utility rooms and the engine room occupy the back. One level down, the garage and remaining auxiliary areas take-up the entire floor. Synthetically, the building is a combination of diverse masses and materials. The backbone is a mixture of concrete and steel. Metal structural elements such as the columns and windbreaks are exposed on both the ground floor and first floor. On the heavy base of bare concrete lies the ground floor with kurasani coated surfaces and floor-to-ceiling glass extensions. Larger in size, the second floor is slightly re-positioned and covered in rust coloured perforated steel. Aluminum blinds cover all glass surfaces offering shade to interior spaces.
