This miniscule, wearable translator facilitates communication by breaking the language barrier in real-time; by simply pushing its button travellers may begin to talk, having their say immediately translated into the locals’ language and vice-versa. ili’s microphone accurately picks out the user’s voice even in noisy environments such as markets, pubs, or urban places and its speaker clearly projects the translated message above the background noise. With its integrated proprietary dictionary, processing of voice recognition, translation and speech synthesis, ili outperforms all existing translation engines. Most importantly, ili does not require an internet connection to work. In the future, its docking station will connect the device to the internet to keep it up to date. ili currently translates to and from up to 3 languages (English, Japanese and Chinese) while the following two versions will include 6 more (French, Thai, Korean and Spanish, Italian and Arabic) as the makers focus on precision and quality of translation rather than language quantity. Logbar was named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree for producing and manufacturing ili, that was deemed to have “outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 27 product categories”.
