Capturing emotions
As its main objective, the renovation was designed to accommodate an architectural practice, which reflected the architect’s image and aesthetic. This was achieved through the design of distinct spaces intended to evoke an emotional response from visitors.
Interior layout
In this sense, each room is conceived as a stage for presenting the office’s identity. To enhance the understanding of the architectural design potential for possible future projects, it was deemed necessary to incorporate spaces for everyday use. These include a living room serving as a waiting area on the ground floor, a fully equipped bathroom and kitchen in the basement, and a personal office room with a library in the attic. This arrangement transforms the visitors’ tour of the office into a simulated experience akin to exploring a home, at a scale that can be easily perceived through their senses.
Workplace and lighting design
The main work area is located on the basement, which became a challenge due to the lack of natural light. Consequently, special lighting fixtures with adjusting light color were selected, to create comfortable working conditions as well as stimulate employee creativity.
Unifying and separating spaces
In contrast to the previous layout, a single staircase was constructed, made of 10mm sheet metal with wooden steps, defining various functions within the space. Wooden doors in, the form of panels, revolving around an axis, are used to both unify and partition the ground floor spaces as needed.
Materials and colors
Dionysus marbles, treated with various techniques such as sandblasting and brushing, showcase the material’s potential in selected areas of the office. Finally, the colour scheme predominantly incorporates white and black tones, as the strength of black complements the simplicity of white in perfect balance.
