The conjugate of the morphological elements of classical Aegean architecture with the requirements of contemporary summer houses, the dramatic, arid Cycladic landscape with the timeless luxury of Mykonos and the alternation between built-up spaces and voids, were the main challenges in the architectural design of the house.
Part of a luxury housing complex, linearly arranged and transversely incorporated to the steep slope, the house comprises a series of white permeable volumes on a local stone masonry bed. The main entrance is located at the rear, allowing for a frontage of unobstructed panoramic views over the old port and Mykonos Town.
The reception, the kitchen as well as dining and sitting areas are placed at the lower level, while the top-placed en-suite bedrooms, give a sense of hovering between earth and sky.
The peculiarity of the terrain, slope and orientation of the plot, played a key role in the design of the surrounding area. Large yards with elevated swimming pools, bar and sitting areas under pergolas, are in direct communication with all levels of the buildings via corridors and bridges, incorporated into gigantic natural rock formations.
Internally, off-white textures and earthy Cycladic hues predominate, while the sparse decoration and continuous smooth surfaces emphasize the overall minimalist disposition.
